What is Sandown Baptist Church?
Sandown Baptist Church Is NOT the building at the crossroads of Station Avenue and St John's Road.
No church is a pile of bricks, wood, glass and slate. That is simply a device to keep the rain off our meetings.
In fact Sandown Baptist Church is a group of people who believe in the Lord Jesus Christ as their Personal
Saviour, The authority for this we take from the Bible, We are not a bunch of religious weirdos or fanatics
but a group of ordinary people, We are your neighbours, the people you work with, the people you see in the
streets of Sandown, Lake, Shanklin, Brading and Yaverland, It's quite likely that if you come to one of our
meetings you will meet somebody you know, by sight at least.
There are men and women, young and old, workers and unemployed. Amongst our number we have at least one lawyer,
shop assistant, banker, civil servant, housewife, teacher, factory worker, nurse, student
and of course a minister of religion! On top of all those we also have retired folk from all walks of life and
children, both of school age and younger, You may
think that this list is a bit limited, for instance if you earn your daily crust as a sagger maker's bottom knocker
you may think that there ought to be one in the list.
So why not come along and see for yourself. There are no preconditions to attending a service to hear the word
preached. If you feel nervous bring a friend or the whole family. Jesus doesn't require that you be a good
singer of hymns or an authority on the bible. You don't have to know anything or be anything to come into his
house. He doesn't require that you should have lead a righteous life up to now. The Lord only wants you to listen
to his voice and give him the opportunity to come into your life. There Is no compulsion. Come and visit us at
least, not because you must but because you may. Come any Sunday at 10.30 in the morning. You will be very welcome.
